Hello. My name is Soo-Lin Mondle!

I live in the suburbs outside of Minneapolis, MN with my three boys, my husband and our doberman dog, Luna. I stand firm on my faith in Jesus Christ which encourages me to love and have compassion for people. We moved from San Francisco, CA in 2019 when I was 30 weeks pregnant and had no idea where we’re going to give birth. Man, that’s stressful and scary! But, we were blessed with an amazing midwife who is now family. Without her, we wouldn’t have gone on this home birth journey and me becoming a birth worker.

I’m currently a student midwife at the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program. I am also under a full-time apprenticeship with Seasons Midwifery. And to add to my already crazy schedule, I homeschool my boys and am planning to open up a coffee shop in the near future.

Why a doula? I attended my first home birth outside of a tiny cottage home in the heart of Berkeley, CA. It was my friend who called me at 3:30AM a month before my wedding. I arrive on site and it was quiet, serene, and beautiful. All the ideas I had around birth was thrown out the window - it wasn’t scary, bright lights, doctors and nurses screaming; it was just quiet. I saw a tent pitched out in the backyard with classical music playing in the background. My friend was in her birthing pool attended by her husband, midwife, and her assistant. Myself and my goddaughter was invited into the tent to witness the birth of her little brother. I teared up a little because I saw how beautiful the birth was, the amount of support my friend received and was surrounded by. It was quite magical. It wasn’t too long that I became pregnant after my wedding where I had the same dream of having a home birth. After moving to MN from San Francisco, I had the support of a new friend who became my midwife and now, my good friend who has attended both of my births. Years later, 2023, my sister-in-law asked if I could be her “doula” even though I had no prior training. Without a doubt, I answered with a huge YES! It was the moment of my niece being born and caring for my family that I knew I wanted to keep doing this. I was present and yet invisible all at the same time. My heart was overjoyed and knew this is where I’m meant to be.
